Michael Cooper : Profile

Michael is a photographer with press experience dating back to 1990.

He was born in 1973 near Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland. He received his early training in photography after freelancing for local and regional newspapers while still at school before studying photography in Sheffield.

After a period of freelancing work back home, he moved to London and joined Allsport Photographic where he photographed most of the World's major sporting events including Olympic Games, World Athletic Championships and International Golf. During his seven years at Allsport he specialised in motorsport where he covered Formula One and Motorcycle Grand Prix's. His images have been published in newspapers and magazines all over the world including Time, Sports Illustrated, L'Equipe and the Sunday Times.

On leaving Allsport in 2000 he moved back home to Belfast and started his own business and while still covering Formula One, he has a wide range of clients including national and international newspapers, Government departments as well as many local and national businesses. He is also the official photographer for the Belfast Giants ice hockey team and published a book celebrating their Championship winning year, 'Champions in the Land of the Giants'.
